Thank you for sending this product to allow my department and I to test for consideration. The notes that I've received about the product from various other officers are as follows:
- Pushing down the first retention outward to access the second retention did not feel intuitive. It felt like it was two separate actions (forward, then back and down) that needed to be performed versus one seamless action to release the two retention levels. Personally though, it did not bother me. What did bother me was the second lever that we needed to pull back. It seemed difficult for me to do... and somewhat painful as the lever was sharp to my thumb.
- It was apparent that with this holster, you could still release the firearm while the firearm was being pulled upward (out of the holster), before pressing to release the firearm. This was different than our current holster where if the firearm was being pulled upward and the final retention release button was pressed, the firearm would not release until the pulling of the firearm stopped. We like that feature should it be the case that someone is trying to tug our firearm out of the holster.
- We all agree that the holster is very well made and durable.
- We also all agree that the holster has really good retention ability. We just were not sold on the speed of the manipulations to release the weapon. I personally believe though with practice it would be a good gun for the end user if they were to start with this holster.

Ill admit, I was skeptical before this holster arrived. Looking at the photos online, I expected the Valor Duty Holster Level 1 with the Valor Duty Loop to be another bulky, heavy piece of gear that would weigh down my belt and feel cumbersome throughout a long shift. I couldn't have been more wrong!
First Impressions: Lightweight Surprise
Right out of the box, I was shocked by how light this holster feels. Despite its solid construction and quality materials, its remarkably lightweight compared to other duty holsters I've used over the years. This immediately changed my expectations about what the rest of the day would feel like wearing it.
Custom Fit Perfection
The custom creation aspect of this holster really shines through. My firearm fits like an absolute glove and I mean that literally. The holster was molded specifically for my gun model with my optic and light, and you can see the precision in every contour. Theres no wiggle, no loose fit, just a snug, secure hold that gives me complete confidence in my carry in this holster! I didn't have to jam it in to fit, it isnt a struggle to unholster either like some others are.
Retention You Can Trust
The Level 1 retention is smooth and easy to operate. I was worried about fumbling with a complicated retention system during training drills, but the Valor system is straightforward and easy to work with. The draw is clean and consistent every single time, and reholstering is just as effortless. Whether Im on the range or going through scenarios in training, the retention gives me peace of mind without slowing me down. Thank goodness because what no one has time for is to be SLOW on the draw because of the holster!
Durability That Impressed Me or at least Surprised Me
Heres where this holster really proved itself: I accidentally or intentionally...for the purpose of this review...dropped it during a training exercise, and it hit the concrete hard. I picked it up fully expecting to see cracks or stress marks in the material and nothing. Not even a scratch worth mentioning. The quality of the material is outstanding, and its clear this holster is built to handle the real-world abuse our line of work demands. This kind of sustainability and durability is exactly what we need in the field.
Versatility for Different Uniforms
One of the standout features is how well this holster works across different uniform options. Whether Im wearing my Class B/admin uniform for office duties or my full duty uniform for patrol, the Valor Duty Loop makes it easy to switch between setups. The multifunctionality means I don't need multiple holsters for different occasions, which saves money and keeps my gear consistent. Plus if you are like me, you want quick and easy, not a whole operation to switch out a holster from belt to belt!
Here is my Final Verdict:
The Valor Duty Holster Level 1 with Valor Duty Loop completely exceeded my expectations. What I thought would be too big and bulky turned out to be lightweight, perfectly fitted, and durable. The custom fit, easy retention system, quality materials, and versatility make this holster a phenomenal choice for anyone in law enforcement, security, or related fields. I highly recommend this holster. If you're on the fence like I was, trust me, give it a shot. The custom creation process ensures it'll fit your specific firearm perfectly, and the lightweight design and durability will win you over immediately like it did me.
A Summary of Pros:
Lighter weight than it appears but made with solid construction
Custom-fit perfection for your specific firearm
Smooth, easy to use Level 1 retention
Exceptional durability and quality materials
Versatile for Class B/admin and duty uniforms
Easy to use and re-holster
Cons:
Nothing worth mentioning from my intense testing and standards for quality! This was definitely a product I would have judged on appearance and said NO to before testing it and having the opportunity to put it through A LOT of tests. The only reason I scored some sections at 4.5 is because there is always room for improvement but it still was above average in my opinion.

This is my first experience using a Blade-Tech holster. Previously, I have been limited to holsters issued by my police department, which have typically been Safariland models. My initial impression of the Blade-Tech Valor Duty Holster was that it is extremely well constructed and exceptionally rugged. My light-bearing, optic-equipped handgun fits perfectly in the holster. After years of using Safariland holsters, I was able to mount the Valor Duty Holster directly onto my duty belt and immediately draw and re-holster my weapon with ease, as if I had been using it for years. Drawing from the Level II retention system is effortless; my thumb naturally lands on the oversized ALS button every time, allowing the weapon to release smoothly from the holster. I have been running this configuration for nearly a month and am extremely satisfied with its performance. I also appreciate that the holster is open at the bottom, which prevents spent brass from becoming trapped during training on the range and interfering with reholstering. I also appreciate that the trigger is well protected compared to my other holsters, ensuring that there will be no ADs while wearing my weapon. I have dropped, thrown, and subjected the holster to significant abuse during daily movement, and it continues to perform without issue, something I am not confident my previous holster would withstand. My department is currently in the early stages of a weapons transition and will be strongly considering the Blade-Tech Valor Duty Holster for department-wide adoption. Overall I am very satisfied with this piece of gear.

The Blade-Tech Valor is hands down the best holster I've ever owned. It is extremely durable and performs exceptionally well in a duty environment. My duty weapon is a Glock 47 MOS, and I've run multiple weapon lights, including Streamlight, SureFire, Modlite, and Nightstick, all of which fit in the holster without any issues. The draw cycle is very smooth, and reholstering is effortless. Once seated, the weapon is held securely with minimal play. That said, the holster is fairly thick, which can make it a tight fit in many police vehicles. I also had to get creative when attaching a Safariland QLS system, as I was unable to find a dedicated conversion kit to simplify the process. Additionally, the Valor is somewhat limited in the range of firearms it is available for. Overall, despite a few drawbacks, this holster excels in durability, retention, and performance and remains my top choice for duty use.

The Valor Duty holster delivers a strong balance of durability, practicality, and everyday usefulness. The holster seems to be built with sturdy materials. The holster holds up well under regular wear and tear and maintains its function. I got to custom-build the holster to fit my specific setup, and the entire process was straightforward and user-friendly. Valor offers an impressive range of attachment options, including drop-leg configurations, teklok, tek-mount, and the tek-mount mini, making it easy to find what best fits you. I've carried this holster while in a Swat capacity and have experienced zero issues with comfort or stability. The draw is smooth and consistent, even with the added security of a level three retention system. The learning curve is minimal, as the retention mechanism feels intuitive and comparable to other well-known brands. Overall, the holster delivers reliability, customization, and solid craftmanship, making it a dependable choice for daily professional use.

The Valor Duty Holster from Blade Tech is a great way to customize a holster to your specific needs or wants. Blade Tech is an American based company that seem to pride themselves on providing the best to their customers. From the Blade Tech's website you can easily maneuver through the "build your own" Valor of Duty Holster. There is a digital mockup at the top of the page that updates with each selection allowing you to watch it grow, change, and compare your options to help make the best choice. You can view the mockup from the front and back as you work through the list of build options. The site allows you to add features such as right or left hand draw and retention level, offering level one, two, or three. When selecting level one, there is an additional option to add a chop guard or a button cover which can increase the retention to a level two while still eliminating the need for the hood. Selecting a level two opens an option to have a chop guard as well as the hood. Retention level two and three offer the option to add an optic shroud for a small, or large optic. There is a provided list of compatible optics which they state they have tested with their holsters. However, there is a disclaimer that they are unable to test every optic on the market, so if yours is not one on the list, its kind of a leap of faith to add this option. The holster can be modified to include a front Tek Mount Mini front plate and an extension end cap. I noticed they offer an adapter kit for an Axon signal sidearm, but if you do not already have the signal device or are getting one, this is a mute feature for an additional $10. You can add an offset belt attachment (1/4" off set) or let it stay centered. They offer two Mid-rise belt attachment options, one with a thigh strap and one without. They have a high-rise belt attachment and a choice of a Tek-Mount 360 Insert Disk for a quick release option. This holster is made to fit a variety of models made from Glock (G17, G19, G19X, G34, G45, G47 (Gen 3-5), G22, G23 (Gen 3-4), Sig Sauer (P320 FS, P320C, M18, M17, M18X, M17X, P320-X Full, P320-X5, P320 Max), and Smith and Wesson (MandP 2.0“ 9/40 and MandP 2.0 - .45). For the one I customized, I went with a right-handed Glock, level one retention with a chop guard. I love the how smooth the release is on the holster. It is a very fluid slide down with the thumb, moving right into a full grip as you draw your firearm out. When holstering, you can feel and hear the tension lock in, given feed back of it being properly seated. The chop block is a nice feature as I found it helpful in blindly guiding my thumb onto the release when first starting to use this holster. I added the front mounting plate for my tourniquet pouch. I went with the end cap extension which gave it a more sleek look and coverage for the entire barrel. A notable advantage of this holster is its effective performance both with a mounted weapon light and without one. When used with a light attached, the holster maintains proper indexing and retention around the light-bearing area, ensuring consistent draw mechanics and secure seating. There is no excessive wobble or loss of retention, which is often a concern with light-compatible holsters. Equally important, the holster performs well when the firearm is carried without a light. Retention remains reliable, and the draw feel stays consistent, indicating thoughtful design rather than over-reliance on the light as the sole retention point. This dual compatibility adds meaningful versatility, allowing the user to transition between configurations without needing a separate holster. As far as the outer cosmetics, it has a standard smooth black and a basketweave. They have four color choices from Multicam (camo), Ranger Green, Coyote Brown, and Border Patrol Green. I selected one of the color options just to see how resilient it would be over time. It is just a very sticky canvas tape, cut out to the mold of the exterior. It was not pressed fully in some areas and had already started to lift. Simulating basic friction it would be exposed to over time, I noted the tape would start to degrade, especially near the edges. Cleaning the exterior caused the tape to lose some stickiness. Though not something that is done all the time, there are times your equipment comes into contact with things you don't want leave on them, and for the color exteriors, what you use to clean it with needs to be a conscience decision to avoid degrading the tape. As a whole, it's a nice addition to have, but exposed to the elements over time, it is not ideal if wanting to keep it looking pretty. Collective thoughts as a whole, this holster demonstrates a strong balance between security, usability, and personalization. The retention system provides a reassuring degree of weapon security while still allowing for a smooth, intuitive draw. Retention pressure is consistent and well-tuned” firm enough to prevent accidental release during movement, yet not so restrictive that it slows presentation under stress. It provides a performance worthy of used for range training, duty use, or everyday carry. Durability is another strong point. Materials feel robust and purpose-built, suggesting the holster will hold up well to repeated draws and daily use without premature wear. Edges are finished cleanly, and the overall construction reflects thoughtful craftsmanship rather than mass-produced shortcuts.

I had the privilege of testing and reviewing the Valor Duty Holster by Bladetech! I must start off this review by saying the process before acquiring this holster was amazing. In my decades in law enforcement, I have seen the innovation of technology evolve! Bladetech has definitely evolved. On the Bladetech website, I was able to review different aspects of the holster online and customize many features that made the holster right for me. I was impressed that the website described each piece I was customizing, so I was knowledgeable about what each feature specifically did or did not do. Especially for those who are novices, I thought this was important. When I received the holster, the packaging revealed that I most likely would not be disappointed. The overall construction of the holster is sturdy and rigid. The quality is apparent when you hold it. The look of the holster is very professional and sleek; I was tempted to use it only for display. (Note: The website provided options for limited colors) There was some bulk to the holster, but it was not cumbersome. There was little to no space between the belt attachment and the holster, which was not a problem. The lack of space helped with the seatbelt not getting caught on the holster. I did drop the holster only a couple of times to see if any of the mechanisms would fail, however, the holster was so nice, I did not want to mess it up. Trust me, the quality is nice. I liked the overall construction of the holster. During a press test, there was nothing moving around on the holster. You could probably roll over it with a car, and the holster would win. The holster had a belt adjustment bar to accommodate wearing different belt sizes. I appreciate having those options. On the belt loop mount, there were a few options to cant the holster to your preference. When we talk about holsters, we must factor in retention. I did not know what to expect with this holster, but once I placed my firearm inside, it was like laying on the beach watching the ocean waves. It fit like a glove. There was a distinct click and would not come out, until I was ready. When I pressed the level one thumb release, the firearm came out with no negotiations needed. I was thoroughly impressed. Retention is extremely important, but being able to access my firearm when I need it is just as important if not more. My firearm felt secure in the holster. With each draw, I was confident that I could be efficient. There was no break in period with this holster, it was effective from the time it went from the package to my duty belt. I appreciate the fact that the holster I ordered was specific to the exact features that I chose online, and I did not have to adjust anything once I received it. I would say it is important to note: Any equipment you receive, always test it and train with it, so you know how it will perform when you need it. Also, know that stress can affect how you access your equipment. I chose a level one holster, because although retention is vital, I need to be able to access my firearm in the most efficient and effective way in the field. Choose what works best for your environment, but train, train, train. Overall, I would say this holster is amazing. I have had many holsters over the years, but this is definitely a holster to add to the rotation. If your goal is to balance retention and access of your firearm, level 1 is a good option. If you need more retention, you can always personalize that when you order your holster. I can't stress enough, whatever option you go with, always train with it first. Be safe!

To start, I really like this holster, though the web site could use some improvements for selecting options (more later). I am very familiar with Safariland duty holsters, and have been very happy with them, with the new realization that they aren't the only option any more. The biggest difference I noticed between them is the SL is just a tad sloppy, the gun moves around in the holster, while the BT is solid, it was truly made for it. I don't know if this causes issues with possible compatibility, I didn't notice any problems. This Blade Tech easily stands toe to toe, and would make a fine replacement. I think the customization when ordering is very impressive, however, the site needs to explain some of the options better. Simply adding an info tab on each option would help explain what you are picking, and why it is important. Someone who knows this stuff can get through it (I did), but there are all different levels of experience and this could make the difference of the user being able to deploy or not. My agency doesn't currently use Axon Signal, but having the option is awesome. You can order accessory plates for tourniquets or other EQ, and you can pick mounting options. I opted for the Tek-Mount system, and overall it is very user friendly. I originally ordered the Receiver on Valor Duty Loop but followed up and purchased the Drop. Using the Tek-Mount works well to swap these easily, but not when using a duty belt, only for a standard belt. The difference is that just like any other holster, you still have to remove everything on your belt to swap. You can also adjust the cant on the fly, but I doubt this will be used much, once you know where you want it, you wouldn't need to change it. I think the main benefit of Tek-Mount isnt realized unless you order lots of accessories (car mounts, drop legs, etc) as there isnt much need to remove the holster. Though, with dual mounts, you could save money and time by simply swapping your duty holster from web gear to range attire very easily. If you pick a color other than black or basketweave, this is an applied sticker (cloth like). I had to smooth out a corner when mine arrived, but has held up since. I don't know how well it will clean up, particularly in mud or biohaz. The holster is sleek, did everything I needed it to, and I highly recommend it.
