Level 2 Duty Holster

LEVEL 2 RETENTION
The perfect balance of speed and security — optimized for patrol officers who need rapid access without compromising weapon retention.
- Two active mechanical retention mechanisms
- Auto-Locking Ejection Port + Retention Hood
- Modular and duty-ready for modern attachments

Level 2 Duty Holster Retention — Explained
At Blade-Tech, “retention level” counts active mechanisms only — each level adds a distinct, mechanical action you must defeat before the pistol can clear the holster. (We do not classify passive friction as Level 1.)

Two active retention mechanisms. On VALOR, Level 2 combines the Ejection Port Auto-Lock with a Retention Hood. Defeating both is fast and intuitive for the officer, while significantly increasing gun-grab resistance.
- Two distinct, mechanical defeats before draw
- Intuitive, single-handed operation for trained users
- Excellent balance of security and speed for daily patrol
Why Patrol Officers Choose Level 2
Level 2 is the sweet spot for patrol work: more security than Level 1 without the extra step count of Level 3. It’s purpose-built for environments with public interaction where gun-grab attempts are a real consideration and fast, clean draws still matter.
How Level 2 Works on VALOR
Our approach emphasizes natural movements. The Retention Hood is released first, followed by the Ejection Port Lock. Both actions are positive and tactile to confirm status under stress.
Which Level Fits Your Use Case?
| Level | Definition | Typical Use | Security vs. Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| One active mechanism to defeat before the draw. | SWAT / tactical entries where weapon control is high and speed is paramount. | Fastest draw; lower public gun-grab resistance. | |
|
Level 2
|
Two active mechanisms to defeat before the draw. | Patrol — routine public contact with elevated retention needs. | Balanced: high security with an easy, trained draw. |
| Three active mechanisms to defeat before the draw. | Crowd control, corrections/jail environments, high gun-grab risk. | Maximum security; more steps before the draw. |
Level 2 Retention — FAQs
Do you count passive friction as a retention “level”?
No. Our levels are active only: each level adds a distinct mechanical action to defeat before the draw.
Is Level 2 much slower than Level 1?
With training, the motions become a single fluid sequence. Officers choose Level 2 for its strong security with minimal impact on draw time.
When should I consider Level 3 instead?
If you work in crowds, corrections, or any environment with elevated gun-grab risk, Level 3 provides an additional button cover for maximum security.
Can I change levels later?
VALOR is designed for modularity. Holsters can be converted between Level 2 and Level 3 by swapping out the button cover insert plate.
